An email listserver is open to all chapter members. Its purposes are to:
Each list contains the email addresses of people interested in a particular topic. You can subscribe to lists that interest you and receive email from them. Some lists also permit you to send email to list subscribers. And each list has an archive of old messages which you can browse.
The Rio Grande Chapter and its five groups reorganized their lists in January, 2007. Before that, there were six lists, all of them operated by the national Sierra Club from its webservers. Five of those lists have been retained and the one called RIO-ISSUES has been discontinued. Thirty-one additional lists have been added.
The thirty-one new lists are operated not by the national Sierra Club but from a web account belonging to chapter officer. Consequently the two different types of lists have different sign-up and account-management procedures.
